Our developments have many hidden gems nearby which are the perfect picnic spot for this August bank holiday weekend, or ideal for local trips out. Here are some of our favourites…

Spots near Riverside Place, Carnforth
- Warton Crag, local nature reserve with stunning views over Morecambe Bay, a great place to go for a walk and have a picnic at the top with your family
- RSPB’s Leighton Moss Nature Reserve, take a trip out to see a spectacular range of wildlife including Otters, Bearded Tits, Marsh Harriers, egrets and Red Deer. There are plenty of picnic tables with level access and wheelchair spaces, as well as a number of other benches around the site to sit and enjoy.
- Leighton Hall, take a wander through the pretty gardens and woodland walk and to witness breath taking displays from birds of prey. There is also a children’s play area and gardens to sit and have a picnic. Plus in August there’s a free Teddy Bear Hunt for the children.
Spots near Jubilee Gardens, Euxton
- Worden Park, is located in neighbouring Leyland. With 60 hectares of meadows, woodlands and playing fields there’s plenty of space for outdoor games, and there are a number of picnic tables and benches located in the park.
- Astley Park, a great day out for families & friends of all ages. Beautiful walkways through the woodlands, why not make a pit stop on your way through the park for a picnic and take in the views of the wildlife living in the pond with the beautiful fountain as the backdrop – perfect photo spot.
- Cuerden Valley Park, lots of hidden walking trails and paths, a tranquil stream, lovely views and plenty of picnic benches available near the river making it a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy your day in the warmer weather.
Spots near Richmond Point, Lytham St Annes
- Lytham seafront, It’s a popular space with local people and visitors, all through the year. Enjoy a walk around the Green and the windmill, on a bright summer day. The perfect spot to sit with your chairs and enjoy a picnic, or just take the view in..
- Lowther Gardens, Just off the seafront you’ll find Lowther Gardens, a beautiful park gardens with fountains & a pavilion, with occasional concerts held there. Plus, plenty of benches and lots of green areas ideal for a picnic and to enjoy the views.
- Blackpool Beach, There’s nothing quite like a day at the seaside, and Blackpool is one of the best beach resorts in the North of England. The whole family can relax in the sun, take a dip in the sea and enjoy an ice cream along the promenade in Blackpool. There are plenty of space for picnics, building sandcastles, relaxing on the beach and family games, so you really can make a day of it.
Spots ideal for Preston. Sandpiper Grange Cottam, Heritage Park Garstang, The Green Ingol, Fulwood
- Avenham and Miller Parks, Ideal for a relaxing picnic with scenic views, a charming river walk, and a children's play area. It's a fantastic outing in the sun that everyone can enjoy.
- Brockholes Nature Reserve, there’s plenty of trails to explore, from beautiful lakes and woodland to riverside rambles. Children can swing, climb, balance and bounce whilst you relax on one of the picnic benches.
- Winckley Square Park, located in Preston City centre, a quiet and calm place away from the hustle and bustle of the city, sit on the green amongst the evergreen trees & bird sounds and enjoy a picnic in the sun.
- Forest of Bowland, for an outdoor adventure that promises stunning views and serene nature, the Forrest of Bowland is the perfect destination! Whether you're hiking, driving, or cycling, don't forget to pack a picnic. It's essential for soaking in the breathtaking scenery and relishing the fresh, clean air.
Spots near Waddicar Rise, Melling
- Mill Dam Park, the relaxing green space is a well-loved park suitable for visitors of all ages. It features a play area for children to enjoy and a pond that attracts various waterbirds. With numerous scenic walkways, pathways, and lush green areas, it's the perfect place to relax during the summer and enjoy a picnic.
- Lunt Meadows Nature Reserve, A serene nature reserve, perfect for peaceful walks and reconnecting with nature. The reserve offers various untamed paths where flora is left to grow naturally. Enjoy birdwatching by the water, find tranquil spots for a picnic, and immerse yourself in the picturesque countryside.
- Formby Beach, at nearby Formby this gem of a nature reserve under the National Trust, features a long, stunning sandy beach with soft golden sand and vast stretches of shoreline. It is complemented by high dunes and woodland for exploration. Ideal for a family outing, you can pack a picnic, go for a walk, and enjoy fun activities with the kids. Offering everything you'd expect from a wonderful beach – Don't forget to treat yourself to some delicious ice cream while you're there.
Spots near Levens View, Ulverston
- Canal Foot Green, offers a picnic area, and the nearby Bay Horse Hotel welcomes dogs. During a walk around, you can spot various wildlife and remnants of Ulverston's history as a registered port. Additionally, you can catch a glimpse of the tower on Hoad Hill and enjoy views of the surrounding hills.
- Morecambe Bay, head out to the nearby Morecambe Bay for a refreshing coastal stroll. Settle down for a leisurely afternoon picnic and soak in the picturesque views.
- Ford Park Ulverston, there are activities for everyone to enjoy, from playing at the adventure playground and exploring the trails, to admiring the sights in the walled kitchen garden. Children can venture through the trails and pathways, while there are plenty of spots for families to sit and have a picnic together.
